Kenjutsu (剣術, lit. 'sword art') refers to Japanese swordsmanship as taught by koryū schools in feudal Japan. In particular, kenjutsu refers to sword technique after the sword has already been drawn (contrasted with iaijutsu, in which techniques begin with the sword in its sheath). The modern art of kendō derives from kenjutsu.
